I hate winter. It’s too dry. And nose-bleedy.
Christmas was great this year! Our trip up to Sherwood was great – Nice getaway but still close enough to come back to the valley for food – Their restaurant wasn’t exactly cheap. But we had a good time.
We got some Target gift cards from family for Christmas so we spent a few hours in Ogden shopping and then eating at Fazolis. I’m really sad ours closed!
On Monday, we woke up around 9:30 and drank hot cider while opening our presents. Jeff gave me a new dragon figure, a huge bag of M&Ms, a bouquet of black roses (they’re really pretty) and a new power strip. Sounds silly, but I really needed it. I also bought a new phone with the gift cards and then bought one for Ben and one for Elicia. OH! And I also got the Peanuts Holiday Box Set. Good stuff. At Target I picked up the classic clay animation Christmas box set, so I am all ready for next holiday season.
Jeff got a mat I made specially for him to play cards on, and a brain teaser game, some chocolate and Pringles, and a 1,136 piece Lego Star Wars set. Here he is holding up the two booklets that show how to put it together.
He says it took about five hours to put together. I helped sort the pieces and it seemed like it took a LOT longer than that.
It actually turned out pretty cool in the end. Had all the little figures you needed, even a mouse droid.
I had set the table all cute days before…
We had some turkey dinner… I hate raw turkey. Blah.
I was stupid and forgot to check to see if we had tinfoil to cover it. We didn’t. So we phoned grandma to borrow some – she didn’t have any either. Called Barb, she’d already left town to see her inlaws. Called Mel, no answer. We got desperate. Then Jeff remembered that the church kitchen probably had some. So we broke in, crept into the kitchen, and took a sheet of tinfoil. We’re so bad.
The turkey was in for 5 1/2 hours and wasn’t “popping”, so we took it out, had some meat from the top (under the now very crispy skin) and then put it back in on lower heat for another hour. Nothing really happened. It was a pretty good dinner though.
You should go see it, if you haven’t.
