Stupid Chapped Lips…

I hate winter. It’s too dry. And nose-bleedy. :)

Christmas was great this year! Our trip up to Sherwood was great – Nice getaway but still close enough to come back to the valley for food – Their restaurant wasn’t exactly cheap. But we had a good time.

We got some Target gift cards from family for Christmas so we spent a few hours in Ogden shopping and then eating at Fazolis. I’m really sad ours closed!

On Monday, we woke up around 9:30 and drank hot cider while opening our presents. Jeff gave me a new dragon figure, a huge bag of M&Ms, a bouquet of black roses (they’re really pretty) and a new power strip. Sounds silly, but I really needed it. I also bought a new phone with the gift cards and then bought one for Ben and one for Elicia. OH! And I also got the Peanuts Holiday Box Set. Good stuff. At Target I picked up the classic clay animation Christmas box set, so I am all ready for next holiday season.

Jeff got a mat I made specially for him to play cards on, and a brain teaser game, some chocolate and Pringles, and a 1,136 piece Lego Star Wars set. Here he is holding up the two booklets that show how to put it together.

He says it took about five hours to put together. I helped sort the pieces and it seemed like it took a LOT longer than that.

It actually turned out pretty cool in the end. Had all the little figures you needed, even a mouse droid.

I had set the table all cute days before…

We had some turkey dinner… I hate raw turkey. Blah.

I was stupid and forgot to check to see if we had tinfoil to cover it. We didn’t. So we phoned grandma to borrow some – she didn’t have any either. Called Barb, she’d already left town to see her inlaws. Called Mel, no answer. We got desperate. Then Jeff remembered that the church kitchen probably had some. So we broke in, crept into the kitchen, and took a sheet of tinfoil. We’re so bad.

The turkey was in for 5 1/2 hours and wasn’t “popping”, so we took it out, had some meat from the top (under the now very crispy skin) and then put it back in on lower heat for another hour. Nothing really happened. It was a pretty good dinner though.

Christmas Decorations

We finally got around tø getting a tree and decorating a little. I originally wanted a real tree, a small one, but real. Then I saw an ad a while back for a six foot plastic one at Family Dollar, and I figured, that’s cheaper than a real one and then I don’t have to worry about how to get it home and where to throw it away.

Here’s Jeff putting the star on top.

Our star pathetically limp on the tree top. Sigh.

Jeff trying to use bread ties and a popsicle stick to hold the star up. It barely worked.

End result. We stupidly waited to buy supplies so there was only red lights left. Eh, it works though. Also, the store was out of green trees, which is what we wanted. I don’t know, it’s growing on me.

We went shopping tonight to buy stocking stuffers for one another. In November we agreed on $150 each to spend on gifts – we have well exceeded that, that’s for sure.

On the 22nd, it’s our first anniversary, also a Friday and a weekend we don’t have to work on Saturday. Wonderful! So that day there is a dessert party at work before we clock in, we get our paychecks that day, and Jeff and I have taken off work after 6 that night so we can go up to Sherwood Hills until Sunday evening. Then home that night for Christmas Eve and presents the next morning. We are going to cook the turkey that someone left us for Thanksgiving too. It’s going to be fun!

Yes, I know it’s sideways. The tree wouldn’t fit.

Usual Stuff

I suppose nothing important has been happening, but figured I should update anyway. Jeff and I are spending this week working on all of the assignments we’ve been too lazy to do up until this week. Finals week. We have to work on notes for our psychology final – which I haven’t studied any of since, oh, chapter 4 or so. We’re on 16. Also, our music programs online. The instructor is from Oregon – enough to make me sick, but he insists on making lame jokes throughout and each time Jeff’s about to punch the screen.

On Saturday Jeff and I drove to Stansbury Park past SLC. I didn’t realize how far away it was, but it was about an hour and a half. We bought an Xbox from someone I found on craigslist. Most of our free time we spend playing the Lego Star Wars we got with it.

Keef is going for surgery tomorrow at the vet’s. Getting fixed. Poor kitty. We have to wait until Wednesday morning to pick him up. Lousy work. I’m worried he’ll come back as a different version of Keef. Vash came back a little different. More subdued mostly. And I like Keef all crazy!

And now I leave you with a peek into the mental life of Keef.

Wintertime Ho-Hums

I took the day off from work. I’ve been feeling sick since Saturday when I slept for two and a half hours and dragged myself out of bed at 6 to go to work until noon. Needed an extra day to recoup. It’s funny, Saturday night I went to sleep about 2:30 ish, and I didn’t wake up until 5:30 on Sunday. Jeff didn’t either, but he stayed up playing games until 7 a.m. Then today, I slept until 1:30 when Jeff called work to tell them I was sick and got permission for me to stay home, and I haven’t been out of the bedroom since then, and it’s now nearly 9:00. So as far as I know, it’s been dark for three days now.

Jeff and I went to see Happy Feet on Saturday night. It was SO cute. Definitely one I want for our collection. I got really annoyed as soon as I realized it was turning into a tree-hugger film (oh, those poor penguins! Save the whales!) But still it was really great, pretty funny too. You should go see it, if you haven’t.

That’s odd, my tongue just went numb on one side. Wonder if that’s a bad thing…?

Been spending the evening catching up on homework Jeff and I -stupidly- put off until the week before finals. It’s not difficult stuff, just mind-numbing. Mostly listening to audio files from our music class, and the teacher has a really bad habit of making lame music jokes. Plus I keep falling asleep and missing all of the answers.
