Small Corner

Jeff and I have been trying for two weeks to upload some video clips of our new house all put together. Youtube is having issues doing so, and pretty much everyone has come and seen it. So those of you who haven’t, then it’s your own fault. :)

We only have one tiny corner of our bedroom that picks up local wireless internet, and only when it feels like it, so we haven’t been online much.

Jeff and I did our taxes a few weeks back to find that we owed the state $700. I know a lot of you doubters and “operator error” types are thinking “No way, you probably just screwed up the math somewhere”. Well I’ll have you know I went over them three, maybe four times and each one showed up at $700.

Well before filing them forever we decided to once more go over the sheet. This time, we did every single question with the booklet, even the deduction ones we were positive we didn’t qualify for. Lo and behold! We came out on top at $24. It’s not much of a return but sure makes a big difference when you’re trying to save $700 in a month before taxes are due.

This means that I can finally get started on fixing my teeth and having my wisdoms out! This is where you guys come in. I’ve never had to deal with a dentist, much less someone who can remove wisdom teeth, on my own without mom and dad making all the arrangements. I’m wondering, should I go see a dentist and have them refer me to an oral surgeon for the wisdoms? Can the dentist do them him/herself? I’ve got insurance through MetLife now, but I’m worried about paying too.

Any advice from those who have been there would be greatly appreciated! :)

I don’t know…

We have been trying to update the page with some video clips of our house in pretty-near-finished condition, and tell all you people to come and visit us, but youtube is having issues uploading them, and so we haven’t made that page.

That’s the story.

Moved!

Jeff and I can’t find an internet provider that will supply our new place (apparently we’re too far out of Logan) and so we’re waiting to get internet at our house. Right now we just leech it off grandpa’s hotel or go to the laundrymat.

Here are some pics of our new place! It’s full of junk everywhere right now, so once it’s all nice and pretty I’ll put up those pictures under the “our house” link.

Here is the front entry to the house. You can see over in the corner the washer and dryer room

Our cute little kitchen, and some of the living room

The hallway, keef loves this part the most

There are two bedrooms at the start of the hall right next to each other. At the end of the hall it widens, and we use that space as a lounge

And for more imagery, here’s a video!

Another Update

As requested, a little information about what is happening in our lives now.

The move is going well, we have finished packing the living room and bathroom upstairs, and we are working on the kitchen. A few odds and ends here and there to find places for, but mostly done upstairs.

I would have pictures for the post, but I left my camera at work tonight. Have to go back before going to bed to pick it up. Sigh.

We’ve had a few people offer to come help us move boxes on Saturday, which is really nice. Hopefully Jeff’s home teaching partner will be able to help with the big stuff; he’s got a truck. Have to give him a call one of these days. :)

Anyway, that’s it. Nothing else is going on, just pack, pack, pack; move, move, move.

Separated?

A lot of people tell me I look like Kirsten Dunst. Really, only like 5 or so, but I never really got that until I started working at the Hogi Yogi. Today my visiting teaching partner told me that too. One person even told me “Don’t be offended, but I think you look like Kirsten Dunst.” I’m like, why would that offend me? She’s pretty enough…

What do you guys think?

Dianna is 21

Today was my 21st birthday. I celebrated it by going to work, getting a massive headache, coming home to a bowl of cold Cinnamon Life cereal (actually my favorite part of today), and a few bites of the yummy cake grandma served me last night.

I actually got to celebrate all weekend long; on Saturday, Jeff, Carrie and I went up to campus to buy me a new MacBook. I’ve been wanting one for the longest time and I am selling my Mac Mini I bought two years ago to pay for half of it (currently 7 minutes until bidding on it ends).

Jeff took me down to Thanksgiving Point near Lehi after that. We walked around their museum checking out their dinosaur bones. I love that museum! I always have so much fun. We also got tickets to see their Sharks in 3D movie. That was pretty weird. I’ve never been to a 3D movie before. It kind of made me motion sick. But I enjoyed it a lot.

After that we drove to Ogden and had dinner at Fazoli’s (really too bad the one here in Logan closed down). And then on Sunday we had a joint birthday dinner at Golden Corral (yes, yes, shame on us) and over to the Farmers to have some really good chocolate cake.

Yes, that is my birthday. It was pretty good!

Defrosting

So when Barb left the note about mold, I started getting really nervous about the ice in our window getting nasty. Today after work (which was very unpleasant), we slept in until Jeff went for a haircut at 4, then around 5 we got out the hair dryer and started melting some ice.

That was going really slowly, so we got out a screwdriver and hammer and started chiseling away. Had to be really careful not to hit the window. It made it go a lot faster

and we collected a lot of ice chunks from the window.

Now the window is all cleared out, revealing lots of icky mold underneath and on the sides of the window. Also, all the paint was starting to peel away.

Just a few chunks left, wiped up all the extra water and washed the towels involved. Tomorrow we’re bleaching Jeff’s hair, and I’m going to use whatever is left of the bleach on the mold spots in the window. What fun!

You know you’re poor when…

Ice forms on the inside of your windows because you can’t afford to heat the house.

(EDIT) Jeff and I have realized that with the big blanket we have covering the window (to block out light, since we sleep all morning), the ice actually makes a nice little cooling-unit. We put some cold snacks and soda up there. Now we don’t have to run upstairs every time we want a drink!

Jeff is 21

Today was Jeff’s 21st birthday. He went down to SLC early this morning – I guess he never truly went to bed after work yesterday – around 6 am to play in Magic: The Gathering’s new card set tournament. They hold these every three months or so and periodically Jeff is interested enough in one to go.

I’ve been really sick all week so I stayed here (good thing too) and slept until 3ish. I’ve slept hours and hours and I’m STILL really tired. Thanks to everyone who remembered his birthday, though. He got lots of great cards he’s really happy with and had a good time. He ordered out some pizza for his dinner and seems to just want to go to bed. Who can blame him? Worked until 9:30 last night, only slept for an hour and went off at 6 to play in a tournament.

Well, I think he’s had a good day. I feel bad that I’ve been so sick and haven’t been able to do as much as I wanted to. For his birthday I got him a wireless keyboard and mouse duo, and a 120GB hard drive upgrade he very much needed. He loves them both very much.

I’m really tired. I’m off to sleep :)
